Controlling Plugs

You can easily control your Cync Smart Plugs with our mobile app, a linked voice assistant, or with another Cync smart device - like a smart switch, remote, or wire-free motion sensor.

Cync Smart Plug Buttons:

  • The Indoor Smart Plug has a button on the right side. Press this button to turn it on or off.

  • Since the Outdoor Smart Plug has two outlets, you can control them separately. There are two buttons on the top of the device: one for each outlet. Press to turn on or off.

How do I control smart plugs with my Cync mobile app?

  • Depending on how many rooms you've created in the Cync app, you will have one of two home screen views: Single Room or Multi Room view.
  • You can control your smart plugs individually or assign them to a Room and/or Group for flexible device control. Based on the home screen view you have, Room, Group and Device controls will be in slightly different locations.

Home Screen Views and App Control Details

NOTE: Because the Outdoor Smart Plug has two outlets, each outlet will display as a single device in the Cync app. This gives you the ability to control both outlets on the Outdoor Smart Plug together, or separately.

If you want to control both outlets at the same time, make sure to assign them to the same App Room or Group. If you want to control them separately, assign them to different App Rooms or Groups.

  • How to turn smart plugs ON and OFF:
    • Use the ON/OFF toggle button on the Room, Group or Device Tile to turn them ON or OFF.

How do I control smart plugs with a Cync Smart Switch or Wire-Free Switch/Remote?

  • Simply assign smart plugs and the Cync switch or remote to the same Room or Group in the Cync app.
  • If you assign these devices in the same Room, your switch or remote will control all the Cync devices assigned to that Room. If you want to control a select group of devices within the room with a switch or remote, simply assign those specific devices into a Group within that app Room.

NOTE: If a switch or remote is assigned to a Room (but not a Group) that has one or more Groups, that switch or remote will control all those Groups and the devices assigned to them. Think of it as a master switch or remote for your Room!
