How to setup your C by GE Sol with the Cync app.

Pairing to the Cync app

  1. Plug in the Sol within Wi-Fi range.
  2. Open the Cync app.
  3. To begin setup, select the “Add Devices" link at bottom of your home screen or within the settings menu.
  4. Select the device type “Sol” and follow the instructions in the app.

 

Helpful Hints

  • Make sure you are connecting to the 2.4Ghz band on your Wi-Fi router. CYNC is not compatible with 5 GHz networks.
  • If your Sol was previously paired to the app, you may need to factory reset it before setting it up again. Hold the mute and Alexa activation buttons down until the inner ring of the Sol lights up orange to factory reset.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • If you can't find the Sol's device network during setup:
    • Confirm the Sol is plugged in and the LED light ring is blinking orange.
    • Make sure your Sol is within Wi-Fi Range.
    • Confirm that the mobile device has access to the internet, either through Wi-Fi or Cellular Data. 
    • Unplug the Sol for 30 seconds, then plug back in.
  • Is your home Wi-Fi network not displaying in the Cync app during setup? Here are some common solutions.
    • Turn your phone's Bluetooth on.
    • Confirm your Wi-Fi Router is powered on and broadcasting. You can check this by going to Settings on your mobile phone and looking for your Wi-Fi network.
      • If your router is powered on, but not broadcasting, contact your Internet Service Provider.
    • In the CYNC App, where your Wi-Fi network should be displaying, refresh this screen by navigating to away and then back to the screen again.
    • After the refresh, if your network still doesn’t display, enter your SSID manually.
    • Check your Wi-Fi strength at the location your Sol is placed. You can do this by looking at the Wi-Fi signal bars on your phone when standing in the same location.
      • If you do not have a strong signal strength:
        • Move your Sol closer to your router.
        • If you have a Wi-Fi Repeater, move it halfway between the Sol and your router to improve signal strength.
  • If your home Wi-Fi network is displaying in the CYNC App, but you are unable to connect your Sol to the network, here are some common solutions.
    • Confirm your Wi-Fi Router is powered on and broadcasting. You can check this by going to Settings on your mobile phone and looking for your Wi-Fi network.
      • If your router is powered on, but not broadcasting, contact your Internet Service Provider.
    • Confirm you are on a 2.4 GHz network. CYNC is not compatible with 5 GHz networks.
    • Check your Wi-Fi strength at the Sol location (you can do this by looking at the Wi-Fi signal bars on your phone).
      • If you do not have a strong signal strength: 
        • Move Sol closer to your router.
        • If you have a Wi-Fi Repeater, move it halfway between the Sol and your router to improve signal strength.
    • Confirm you have the correct Wi-Fi network and password.
    • Power cycle the Sol by unplugging it then plugging it back in.

If these tips do not resolve your issue, you may need to factory reset your device. Resetting the device will require you to set it up in the app again. Any settings, scenes, or schedules for the device will be deleted.
