We’ve added a number of enhancements to the Cync app in 6.9 meant to improve the performance of your smart home devices, including:
- Auto Update, which is a new feature that will automatically update the firmware of your eligible Cync devices overnight. Enabled by default, Auto Update ensures that you get all the latest performance improvements and features without ever needing to do manual firmware updates in the Cync app. This feature is supported by almost all Cync Wi-Fi enabled devices. Bluetooth-only devices like the original C by GE bulbs, remotes, and motion sensors will still need to be updated manually using the Cync app. You can disable this feature in the settings for your Home.
- Additional improvements to firmware update flows in the app, resolving bugs where updates could fail to start, or fail to finish repeatedly.
- Connectivity enhancements, especially for homes with more Cync devices or with larger floorplans where devices are further apart from each other.

We’ve also added music sync capabilities on some of the new models to react to your favorite songs and games for another level of immersion. Music Sync is only compatible with Full Color Dynamic Effects lights - coming soon!

iOS 6.7.0
July 13, 2022
We’ve been busy overhauling the entire Scenes and Schedules section of the app to add new features and make it more user-friendly, and we’re excited to finally launch it in 6.7.0. To better summarize these new changes, we’ve added additional detail to our What’s New site, which you can view here. The highlights include:
- Changed the name of the “Scenes” section of the app to “Routines”.
- Added the ability to schedule both scenes and individual devices, where previously you had to create a scene and then create an automation for that scene.
- Added dynamic sunrise and sunset options for schedule execution times, which will adjust dynamically throughout the year based on the user’s location. We also now prompt users for their postal code so we can accurately calculate sunrise/sunset.
- Added the ability to define a Start and End time for a single schedule, where previously users would have to create two separate schedules for Start and End.
- Users can now sort their scenes, which used to be in alphabetical order only.
We’ve also added a permanent link to the What’s New website for Cync, found in the settings menu. For brand new users, they will be presented with a more helpful tour of key Cync features following account creation now.
To top off these excited new additions to Cync, there are also several dozen bugfixes and performance improvements in this release.

iOS 6.6.0
April 12, 2022
This app update brings support for two new products and a few enhancements to better educate users about the connection status of devices. We’ve also added a new page that will display for all users following major app updates to better communicate what’s new and exciting in Cync!
- Support for the Cync Full Color A21 100W bulb launching in May 2022 at select retailers. These things are seriously bright, especially when it comes to RGB colors – all in a small enough bulb to fit in most lamps!
- Support for the Cync Outdoor Battery Camera, which we plan to launch publicly in June 2022. A super-simple mounting system combined with fantastic image quality, night vision, two-way talk, and Cam Cync storage plans make this an awesome new addition to the Cync family.
- More information is now included in device settings pages to show how it’s connected. Cync utilizes both BLE and Wi-Fi in many products, and you can now see the connection status details including how your BLE mesh is connected.
- A What’s New popup will display after major app updates. These popups will provide valuable education on new features, products, and fixes, with links to learn more on our Cync website.
