Setting up and controlling your Cync or C by GE Devices with Alexa.

Enable Alexa Control

First, setup your Cync or C by GE devices to the Cync app.

NOTE: If you only have Bluetooth light bulbs and light strips,  then you will need to also pair a Cync/C by GE Wi-Fi device to your Cync app.

Second, follow the instructions based on your situation:

If this is your first time setting up Cync/C by GE devices with Alexa:

  1. Set up your devices in the Cync app if you haven't already.
  2. Open the Alexa app.
  3. Tap the menu icon in the top left corner.
  4. Select Skills & Games.
  5. Tap the search icon and type in Cync.
    1. Due to the brand change, the Alexa Skill may display as C by GE. If Cync doesn't display, search for C by GE
  6. Select the Cync or C by GE skill and tap Enable to use.
  7. Enter your Cync account login information.
  8. Next, you will be prompted to Discover Devices. Tap Discover Devices button.
  9. Alexa will discover your Cync devices, and now you can start controlling them! You can use the Alexa app to add them to rooms, create routines, and more.

If you have previously set up Cync devices with Alexa and want to add more:

  1. Set up your device in the Cync app if you haven't already.
  2. Check your devices page in the Alexa app. If you see your device listed, you’re done! Most of the time, Alexa automatically discovers your new CYNC devices within 30 seconds of completing setup.
  3. If you do not see your new device listed, simply say, “Alexa, discover devices.”

Helpful Hints

  • Make sure the names you give your CYNC devices in the Alexa app matches the name in the CYNC app.
  • The device name in both apps should be something that can be easily said in a voice command. For example, name the smart plug in your living room, “Living Room Plug” instead of an abbreviation like “LR Plug."
