Setting up and controlling your Cync devices with Google Voice Assistants.

You can enable Google Assistant Voice control two ways:

  1. Seamless Set Up: Setup Cync or C by GE lights and plugs to the Google Home app.
  2. Works with Google: Setup Cync or C by GE devices to your Cync app Home first, then link your Cync account to your Google Home app.

NOTE:

  • Only Cync or C by GE light bulbs, light strips, indoor smart plugs and outdoor smart plugs are compatible with Seamless Set Up.
  • If you choose the Works with Google way and have Bluetooth only lights in your Cync app Home, then you must also add a Cync/C by GE Wi-Fi enabled device to your Cync app Home to enable voice control.

If you are pairing your Cync/C by GE devices directly to the Cync app and linking your Google Home account, here are some helpful tips:

    • Make sure the names you give your Cync devices in the Google Home app matches the name in the Cync app.
    • The device name in both apps should be something that can be easily said in a voice command. For example, name the smart plug in your living room, “Living Room Plug” instead of an abbreviation like “LR Plug."

If you are pairing your Cync devices directly to the Cync app and linking your Google Home account, here are some troubleshooting tips:

    • Confirm your Cync devices are paired with the Cync app.
      • IMPORTANT: If you only have Bluetooth light bulbs/strips, one of your other connected Cync devices must be a Cync Wi-Fi device in order to enable Google control. Our Wi-Fi devices include the Smart Plug, Direct Connect Lights, Wired Switch or C-Reach.
    • Confirm you are using the correct Cync login credentials by logging out of the Cync app, then logging back in. Go back to the Google Home app and try setting up your devices again.
    • If you have previously set up Cync devices with Google and want to add more, give a voice prompt to your Google Voice Assistant by saying, “Hey Google, sync my devices.” Now check the Google Home app and see if your new Cync/C by GE devices are listed at the bottom of the Google Home app home screen.
If your Cync devices are not responding to Google voice commands or the Google Home app, here are some common solutions:
    • Confirm your Cync devices are paired with the Cync app.
    • Ensure you haven’t changed your Wi-Fi network credentials and that your Cync/C by GE devices are within range of your Wi-Fi router.
      • If you have changed your Wi-Fi credentials, or changed providers, you'll need to update your Wi-Fi in the Cync app.
    • Confirm you’ve linked your Cync account to the Google Home app
    • Say, “OK Google, sync my devices.”
    • Power cycle your Cync/C by GE devices by powering off for 10 seconds, then powering back on.
