C-Reach Discontinuation
Can I continue to use HomeKit with my Bluetooth lights after the end of support date?
If your C-Reach and Bluetooth lights are still paired to the Cync app and functioning after March 30, 2023 you can continue to use HomeKit. However, no further updates or support will be provided to C-Reach after this date, and you will experience some functionality limitations as time passes.
If I reset my C-Reach after the end of support date, will I be able to pair it to the Cync app again?
Resetting your device will set it back to its original factory settings. There will no longer be an option to pair a C-Reach to the Cync app after this date.
Will I be able to pair a new C-Reach to the Cync app after the end of support date?
You will no longer be able to pair a C-Reach device to the Cync app after this date.
If I reset one of my Bluetooth lights, can I re-pair it to my C-Reach with the Cync app?
We do not advise resetting your Bluetooth light to its factory settings as you will not be able to re-pair it with a C-Reach device after the end of support date. However, you can pair your Bluetooth light to a different Home Location that does not have a C-Reach.
What happens if I make changes to my home network after the end of support date?
A change to your home network like upgrading your router or changing the network name or password will cause the C-Reach to lose connection to your Cync account. You will no longer be able to link the device to your network.
Will there be support for HomeKit in the future?
Our development team is currently working on expanding the number of Cync products that support Apple Home through Matter compatibility and we look forward to announcing this in the future.
If you no longer manufacture, sell, or support C-Reach, why can I still purchase it?
GE Lighting, a Savant Company no longer manufactures, sells or supports C-Reach directly through their retail partners. You may still find existing stock at retail through third party sellers. If you've recently purchased a C-Reach, we recommend returning your device back to your point of purchase.
Matter
What is Matter?
Matter is a new smart-home standard language designed to connect smart devices together across different product types, brands, and apps. The three primary goals of Matter are simple and consistent set up, device interoperability, and reliability. There are three components required for a Matter system:
- Matter Controller: such as a compatible hub or smart speaker from Google, Amazon, Apple, or Samsung.
- Matter Device: such as the upcoming Matter-Certified Cync Full Color A.19 Smart Bulb
- Matter-Compatible App: such as Google Home or Amazon Alexa
What are Cync’s plans for Matter?
- Cync has been a participant in the Matter working group since the early days of the project. We are happy to announce that our first two products are now Matter Certified: Our Full Color A19 Smart Bulb, and our Indoor Smart Plug.
- We expect these first two products to be available for purchase later in 2023, and we are simultaneously working to launch updated versions of our existing products that will support Matter. Launches for these additional products will be communicated in the future.
- Due to technical limitations of Matter, we are unable to update existing products to be Matter compatible. This means that we will be launching updated versions of our existing products that will be Matter Certified out of the box.
- New products that we introduce will be specified as Matter compliant, as long as Matter supports all key features of those products.
