Updating Firmware for Cync Devices

Ensure your Cync Smart Devices function properly by keeping their firmware up to date.

Firmware for your Cync devices (excluding wire-free switches, remotes and motion sensor) will automatically update overnight. However, you can still manually update your device firmware by following these steps:
 

1. Open the Cync app and navigate to Settings (top left corner).
2. Select Firmware Updates.
3. If you have devices that require a Firmware Update, those devices will display on this screen.
4. Select Update All at the bottom of the screen.
5. Your devices will begin to update to the newest firmware.

Updating Firmware for Wire-Free Devices

Wire-Free devices are always in a 'sleep' state to conserve battery life. To update the Firmware on these devices, follow these steps:

1. Wake up your Wire-Free device by holding down on one of the buttons on the switch or remote, or the side button on the motion sensor.
2. The LED will light up green when the device is awake.
3. Once the LED is green, navigate to the Firmware Updates screen under Settings in the Cync app to update this device's firmware.

Troubleshooting / Helpful Tips 

If you see a red error icon next to the device that is not updating, this device is offline and unable to update. Restore the connection by:

• Confirming the device is powered on at the power source.
• Power cycle the device. You can do this by simply turning the device off and on at the power source.

• Make sure the Wi-Fi router that your device is connected to is powered on and broadcasting.
• Ensure your phone is connected to the internet using either mobile data or Wi-Fi.
• If you are manually updating firmware on your device, stand as close as you can to your device with your Cync app opened to the Firmware Updates screen.
